Open Lab
Open Lab is a company established in 2001 that today develops both applied (educational) and indie games, with a strong narrative component. The main aim of Open Lab today is creating innovative, transformative games.
The company today is a team of 5 people, and Pietro Polsinelli is its director.
Open Lab’s game development team is made of 4 people that cover the full spectrum of game production, from storyboarding to development to publishing. Open Lab has released about 20 educational games for different purposes. Pietro Polsinelli since 2019 is also a researcher in the field of applied games/games for health for Bicocca Milan University.
Open Lab is actively developing applied games for education, health, social change, organization.

Pietro Polsinelli is a well-known game designer and developer specialized in designing and developing organically integrated games, where the educational aim is set at the core of the game’s mechanics. Since 2019 is also a researcher in the field of applied games/games for health for Bicocca Milan University. He published a book in Italian in 2018 on applied games (https://www.amazon.it/prendere-Gamification-storytelling-progetti-innovativi/dp/8891779245) and is writing a new English edition (https://explainingwithgames.com/).

Giuseppe Panzarella is an illustrator, animator and developer. He is at the core of the games Football Drama (see https://www.open-lab.com/games/footballdrama/), Roller Drama (https://www.open-lab.com/rollerdrama/) and the illustrations and animations of all applied games from Open Lab.
